Actually, since Rio, we did squeeze in 10 days at Villa Baykus in Turkey which is Rod and Hil's lovely property in Dalyan. It was our sixth or even seventh visit there and if any of you are looking for an amazing place to visit and relax take my advice and try this hidden gem. I have deliberately never blogged about it because I don't want to publicise it too widely to the outside world but we really do love it. Rod and Hil, if you read this, I am in for commission!
Anyway, this month we are heading off to France hopefully to enjoy a slightly less frenetic trip than our aborted Croatia adventure two years previous.
France? What comes to mind? Napoleon Bonaparte, the Eiffel Tower, Champagne and the incredibly militant trade unions, the latter trying extremely hard in recent weeks to destroy everybody's planned holidays to this lovely country.
For Linda and I, it means great wine, good food, gorgeous weather but most important of all, the daily visit to the Boulangerie or the Patissiere. For some reason, the French have the knack of producing delightful baguettes and divine pastries and I am afraid that one of the latter generally accompanies our daily mid-morning Americano or Latte. It's always a toss up between tarte au citron or mille feuille for me and hence the Blog title.
What's this non-dom thing to do with all this then? Well Linda worked out that by the time we return from this four week trip, we will have been out of the UK for three of the first six months this year and therefore qualify for tax free status! Brilliant. That extra £20 saving per month will enable the purchase of even more wine and patisserie.
As always, I generally finish my first post by apologising to the kids for spending their planned inheritance at an ever increasing pace. At the current rate, it should be all gone by April 2018!!
There will be plenty of photos to enjoy going forward but only when the trip commences.
These tales of your adventures are wonderful! I am hooked!
